Herrenknecht AG has introduced what it claims to be a ‘globally unique product innovation in horizontal directional drilling’ in the form of a modularly constructed HDD rig. The modular format has already been successfully tested during the on-site installation of a rig for HDD specialists Haustadt + Timmermann on the River Maas crossing in Holland. The three modules were transported separately by normal trucks then plugged together and braced via hydraulically driven excentres on site. The rig was then moved into position by remote control crawler.
