The Seoul city authorities in South Korea are going ahead with plans to construct a ninth mass transit line. Mayor Goh Kun said ground breaking will take place in the first half of 2001. The 38km connection will run east to west along the southern side of the Han River, from Olympic Park to Kimpo International Airport. An initial 25.5km section will be completed first. Mayor Goh said this first phase would connect Kimpo Airport and the Express Bus Terminal in Panpo and is due to open in 2007.
