The first of two Robbins 7.2m diameter hard rock TBMs will be transported by road to the site of the Parramatta Rail Link project in Sydney, Australia, later this month.
The machines have been built, assembled and tested at the Forgacs Shipyard, Tomago, in the Hunter region of New South Wales, involving the input of more than 100 companies.
The US$457M Parramatta Rail Link Project will be constructed by Thiess/Hochtief JV, and will involve the construction of a 12.5km long twin-bore tunnel between Epping station and Chatswood in four drives.
