The Philippines is planning to go ahead with the construction of a 7km tunnel as part of the Mananga II high dam and treated bulk water supply scheme on Cebu island.
The US Trade & Development Agency (TDA) has invited US consultants to apply to carry out a feasibility study into the scheme.
Apart from the water transfer tunnel, the scheme also includes construction of a dam which will be 3km upstream from an existing facility, a 120,000m³/day water treatment plant, a 20,000m³/day reservoir and 46km of trunk mains.
Under the terms of the TDA’s assignment, the consultant will prepare an updated feasibility study and environmental impact assessment, financing models for a build-operate-transfer or similar privatised concession, bid documents and project agreement.
