The Prague Public Transport Company (DPP) has awarded the contract for the next construction phase of Prague’s new Metro Line D.
The DPP proceeded with the contract agreement with a consortium of Subterra, Hochtief, and BeMo Tunnelling after the Office for the Protection of Competition rejected an appeal from Strabag.
The €1.23bn contract, which will extend the metro line from Olbrachtova to Nové Dvory, includes the construction of three new underground stations and 6km of tunnel sections.
“Metro Line D will be critical to Prague’s future mobility, and we are proud to continue our role in delivering the city’s first fully automated metro line in partnership with the Prague Public Transport Company,” said Hochtief CEO Juan Santamaria.
Construction work is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks and completion is scheduled for 2032.
Construction is under way on the first phase of the new line and is expected to be completed in 2029.
When finished, Metro Line D will span approximately 10.6km with 10 stations, eight of which are newly constructed.
