
Abstracts for the World Tunnel Congress 2026 must be submitted by May 30.
The theme of next year’s conference in Montreal is “Connecting communities through underground infrastructure”.
The topics are:

- Artificial intelligence and machine learning

- Caverns and power houses
- Microtunnelling
- Shaft design
- Innovative tunnelling
- Robotics and automation
- Ground support and lining design
- Grouting, groundwater control and waterproofing
- Digital and information technology
- Operation, inspection, maintenance and rehabilitation
- Safety in tunnelling
- Equity, diversity and inclusion in tunnelling
The organising committee wants those in the tunnelling industry to share their expertise and the challenges they encounter.
“As we also value diversity and inclusivity, we welcome submissions from specialists across various disciplines,” they said. The deadlines for the abstract and paper submissions are:
- May 30, 2025: Abstract submission deadline
- July 15, 2025: Abstract notification of acceptance
- August 1, 2025: Full paper submission opens
- October 26, 2025: Full paper submission deadline
- December 12, 2025: Full paper notification of acceptance
- January 9, 2026: Full paper revision deadline
- January 16, 2026: Full paper notification
