In the U.K., the Thames Tideway Strategic Study has released a report formally acknowledging a 35km long storage and transfer tunnel beneath London as its preferred solution to the address environmental impacts of storm water and sewage overflows into the River Thames.
The report was published at the end of February and circulated to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the Office of Water services (Ofwat). The report describes a five year planning period, followed by eight to ten years of construction.
Further reports on possible interim measures will be produced later this year.
