PSD, the slurry treatment plant specialist, has added more high capacity S4-1-G and S5-1-G centrifuges to its rental fleet. The centrifuges are upgraded to PSD’s specification and are controlled by Allen Bradley computerised control systems, with bespoke programming for heavy-duty engineering. The units are said to be ideally suited to waste mud clean-up for slurry shield tunnelling, shaft dewatering and tunnel run-off water.
The S5-1-G centrifuges have an 1100mm diameter by 3300mm long bowl unit with variable speed drive powered by a 160kW motor with inverter control.
PSD says its 3D computer-aided design software and design team have optimised the design so the centrifuge is housed in a heavy duty frame. The centrifuge module partially cantilevers over the end of the power house module and the solids discharge from the underside of the cantilevered section.
The power house module houses the PLC, control screen and keypad, inverters and control gear for the centrifuge and for the variable speed LM100 peristaltic pumps used to supply mud to the centrifuge. The power house module also includes a tank compartment in to which the centrate discharges by gravity and a variable speed Metso HM100 pump, with 22kW motor powered from an inverter, which is used for the discharge of the centrate.
The S5-1-G centrifuge is fed mud by LM100 positive displacement peristaltic pumps, each with a variable speed drive powered by a 22kW electric motor.
