A road tunnel will be built in Auckland as part of a US$796M 5km motorway extension after the scheme was approved by city councilors in mid-December.
The tunnel, constructed using cut-and-cover techniques, will be built under Auckland’s Waterview district. Transit NZ is planning to complete the highway by 2015. Exact details of the length of tunnel to be built have still to be agreed.
