Atlas Copco has inaugurated its first dedicated development centre for rock reinforcement technology at the old headquarters of MAI Ankertechnik in Austria. Atlas Copco acquired the company in 2001.
The company relocated its rock reinforcement product line to Austria to combine them with the Ankertechnik line and pool resources and facilities. Investment in the centre has taken the form of procuring new manufacturing machines and upgrading of existing facilities.
Herbert Papousek, general manager of Atlas Copco MAI, said: “As a result of this investment a considerable amount of market-driven product development will be possible… this dedicated technology centre for the development of superior rock reinforcement products has been created to serve the worldwide tunnelling, mining and construction industries.”
