Australia’s biggest road project, the A$794M M5 East highway in New South Wales, opened to traffic in early December. The event happened six months ahead of schedule. The 10km long four-lane highway, which includes parallel 4km long tunnels and a further 550m tunnel under Cooks river was built by Australian contractor Baulderstone Hornibrook working in joint venture with Bilfinger + Berger.
