Queensland Motorways already owns both the Gateway and Logan Motorway toll roads in the region. CLEM7 toll revenue will represent just over 10 per cent of total Queensland Motorways toll revenue.
The original operator of the tunnel, RiverCity Motorways, entered receivership in February 2011. It owed approximately AUD 1.2bn as toll collections were below forecasts. KordaMentha partners Martin Madden and David Merryweather were appointed as the receivers and managers to RiverCity Motorways. KordaMentha has successfully worked as a receiver for other complex infrastructure projects, including the Lane Cove Tunnel and the Cross City Tunnel, both in Sydney, Australia.
Madden said in 2011, "We will need to work closely with the management team and the Brisbane City Council to secure a long term sustainable business for what is a valuable asset in Brisbane’s road network. Operationally, Clem7 is performing well and we do not intend to make any significant changes to operations."
