Skanska‘s American subsidiary, Tidewater Skanska, has become the first US heavy civil engineering company whose environmental management systems have been registered in accordance with the international standard ISO 14 001.
Skanska has plans to have all units within its group certified during 2000. Axel Wenblad, vice president environmental affairs at Skanska, says," Accordingly, we are establishing environmental know-how through the entire building process, from physical planning, to design and construction."
Tidewater Skanska posted annual sales of $246m in 1998, with companies being active in industrial and heavy civil engineering mainly in the southeastern and southwestern US.
