The largest trenchless technology conference in North America – the No-Dig Show – will next Spring enjoy the setting of Providence, the capital of Rhode Island, over April 14-18, 2024, for a packed program of presentations and networking.

The show and conference organized by the North American Society for Trenchless technology (NASTT) will take place in Rhode Island Convention Center, in Providence. The aim is to help owners, utilities and municipalities to maximize the benefits from investments that can be made in trenchless technologies, services and applications

Before the main show, there will be a pre-event training course – and another course immediately after. The same day as the pre-event training, NASTT will also be holding its Board meeting with the AGM, and also the committee meeting for the Technical Program – ahead of the Technical Sessions which are to commence the following day, Monday April 15, 2024.

That weekend of training and preparatory meetings is also to include individual gatherings for NASTT’s many chapters: Mid-Atlantic; Western; South Central; Mexico; Rocky Mountain; Midwest; Pacific Northwest; Southeast; and, also student and young professionals meetings.

There will also be a meeting for the Pipe Bursting Center of Excellence.

In and around the meetings and sessions, there will also be a program of scheduled networking opportunities.

Training Courses

The pre-show training courses, each as half-day sessions on April 14, are to include:

  • Introduction to Trenchless Technology – New Installations
  • Introduction to Trenchless Technology – Rehabilitation
  • Municipal Sewer grouting Good Practises The post-show training courses, each in two half-day sessions over April 17-18, are to include:
  • CIPP Good Practises
  • HDD Good Practises
  • New Installation Methods Good Practises
  • Pipe Bursting Good Practises

During each session, the courses run in parallel. The courses can be registration for as part of the main No-Dig Show 2024 registration.

Technical Program

NASTT’s No-Dig Show, in Providence, is to hold 2.5 days of Technical Sessions over April 15-17.

There will be full days over April 15-16, arranged in half-day blocks. The last day, April 17, will be a half-day, morning session – to be followed in the afternoon by the post-event training courses.

Throughout the 2.5 days of Technical Sessions the presentations will be arranged in six parallel tracks.

The full detailed program of the Technical Sessions is being finalized and is expected to be available to review in January 2024. T&TNA will further brief readers in the next issue on the detailed themes and presentations planned for the forthcoming No-Dig Show.

In addition to the Technical Sessions, and the pre- and post-event courses, every 10 hours of attendance at NASTT’s No-Dig Show gives an attendee one Continuing Education Unit (CEU) unit to contribute to formal professional career advancement. The CEUs are issued through Louisiana Tech University.

Networking Opportunities

During the preparatory weekend, networking opportunities will include the Young Trenchless Professionals Networking Night with complimentary access, on Sunday April 14. It is aimed for those in their 20s through mid-30s, and can be pre-registered for as part of the No-Dig Show main registration process.

On Monday, April 15, there will be a networking breakfast opportunity immediately prior to commencement of the main event of packed parallel tracks in the Technical Sessions. All full conference attendees are invited to the Opening Breakfast.

The day ends with NASTT’s 23rd Annual Educational Fund Auction. NASTT notes that since 2022 it has raised more than US$1.2 million to support educational initiatives.

The second day of Technical Sessions, on April 16, will be followed by a casino night party. The ‘Casino Royale’ is a ticketed event and replaces the gala awards being undertake in a dinner format of previous years.

The awards will take place immediately prior to the casino night activities. Tickets can be purchased during registration to No-Dig Show.

Amidst the educational opportunities of the parallel tracks on the last day – a half-day, on April 17 – there will also be a ‘Recruitment Connection’ period.

NASTT has a scholarship award program for municipalities, government agencies and utility owners who have limited or no training funds due to economic challenges. The initiative was started in 2013 and applicants do not need to be NASTT members. In some past years more than 100 applicants annually have been awarded a No-Dig Show Municipal & Public Utility Scholarship.
