The first tunnel lining concrete pour has been completed at the Tantagara site on Australia’s Snowy 2.0 pumped hydro storage project.
The pour marks completion of 10m of the 50m-long transition tunnel by Future Generation JV, comprising Clough and its parent company Webuild, and Whittens.
The transition tunnel is a critical link between the water intake diffuser, gate shaft and the 17km headrace tunnel.
The concrete pour required 566.5m2 of formwork; 108 tonnes of steel reinforcement; and 800m3 of concrete. The base, walls and crown were poured in stages over 44 hours 45 minutes.
The travelling formwork for the tunnel was completed in May.
