The contract is worth approximately €410m (£357m).
The project, which is part of Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan, will improve drinking water supply for more than 2.5 million people and provide irrigation for around 15,000ha of agricultural land.
The first lot, valued at around €277m, will include a 7.5km bored diversion tunnel, the construction of a drinking water treatment plant and a 30,000m3 reservoir.
The second lot, worth approximately €133m, involves construction of a potable supply line and the strengthening and integration of aqueducts.
