"I am honoured to be able to continue working with the fine board and professional team at MTR to serve the people of Hong Kong," said Ch’ien. "This is an exciting and challenging time for the company as we forge ahead with Hong Kong’s biggest ever rail expansion programme.

Among the five new rail lines being constructed, four will be completed over the next three years. They will take mobility in Hong Kong to a whole new level with the Express Rail Link in particular creating new economic opportunities for our community by reshaping our connections with the Pearl River Delta Region and beyond through the National High Speed Rail Network."

Ch’ien added: "As a multinational enterprise, we will continue to promote the Hong Kong brand abroad by growing our businesses in Europe, Australia and the Mainland of China. But going beyond sustainable financial success, we will also remain focused on our responsibilities as a corporate citizen to contribute to the general well-being of the communities we serve."
