Germany’s Dyckerhoff & Widman (Dywidag), in JV with local firm Afcons Infrastructure, is nearing completion on a 3.7km long marine sewage outfall in Mumbai, India. Work on the tunnel started in 1995. The JV is excavating the 3.5m diameter tunnel with a TBM that is currently tunnelling approximately 25m/day at a depth of 45m below the seabed. The tunnel is the second subterranean outfall to be built in Mumbai.
