Several pre-qualification bids have been submitted for the first 14km phase of the Jerusalem light rail network. The 30 year build-operate-maintain concession for the estimated $400m project has attracted interest from the Baran Group in partnership with SNC-Lavalin, Canada, as well as from domestic companies Africa Israel Investments and Housing & Construction Holding Co. The entire five line project comprises 47km of track, including 6.5km in tunnel and 72 stations. The total cost is estimated to be in the region of $1.3bn.
