Russian construction company, Rosneft, has expressed interest in building a tunnel between the mainland and Sakhalin Island in Russia’s far east. Details of the project, which is likely to be rail rather than a road tunnel, have yet to be confirmed but it is likely to be funded by oil companies operating in the region.
