A team led by Jacobs Associates is selected by the San Diego County Water Authority to design the 19.2km (12 mile) x 2.6m (102in) diameter pipeline tunnel to link the San Vicente reservoir to the Authority’s Second Aqueduct Pipeline. A 17-month design phase began in April and construction is expected to begin in mid- 2004 for a project operation date of late 2007. In addition to tunnel specialists Jacobs, the design team includes water resource engineers Montgomery Watson Harza, geotechnical engineers GeoPentech, Golder Associates, and Southland Geotechnical; and civil engineers Lintvedt McColl & Associates.
