Contractors have been invited to prequalify by Hong Kong’s Territory Development Department for the construction of the Sha Tin Heights tunnel and approaches as part of the Route 9 highway. Work on the scheme is likely to start later this year and involves the construction of a 1km dual three-lane tunnel, 600m of dual two-lane tunnel approach road, a toll plaza covering 5.6ha and two slip roads totalling about 1km that will be built on viaduct, together with associated work such as drainage and slope works.
