According to the company, the consortium, which includes Italy’s Impregilo and Qatar’s Galfar, signed a USD 2bn deal with Qatar Railways Company to finish Qatar’s Doha Metro Phase One Red Line North underground project.
SK E&C and Impregilo each has a 41.25 per cent share of the project, while Galfar has 17.5 per cent.
SK E&C said it will build 11.69km of underground railway while setting up seven stations. The company said that since Qatar is ready to release various construction projects before hosting the 2022 Fifa World Cup, this contract was a good opportunity to get additional orders.
