Taiwan’s Continental Engineering Corporation, in JV with Germany’s Bilfinger +Berger, has been confirmed as the winner of two design+build contracts on Taiwan’s high-speed rail project.
The group has won contracts C260 and C270, two adjoining sections virtually in the middle of the 345km long line between Taipei and the southern port city of Kaohsiung.
The 36.6km long C260 scheme includes the longest tunnel on the entire route, the 7.3km Paghuashan Tunnel. The contract also involves construction of Changhua Station.
C270 calls for 42.8km of railway mainly built on viaducts or using cut+cover techniques, together with Yunlin Station.
So far, client the Taiwan High-Speed Rail Corporation has awarded seven of the ten design+build contracts.
