Samsung C&T Corporation has launched the TBM for the CR112 contract for Singapore’s Cross Island Line (CRL).

TBM Artemis, which has a 7.28m diameter, will bore a 1.79km-long tunnel. The launch marks Samsung C&T’s 20th TBM operation.

Singapore’s Land Transport Authority awarded the company the CR112 design and construction contract in March 2021. In addition to the tunnel, the contract includes the design and construction of Hougang interchange station, as well as addition and alteration works to the existing Hougang station along the North East Line.

Last week a consortium of Gammon Construction Ltd, Bachy Soletanche Singapore and Bessac launched the TBM for the CR116 section.

CR116 includes the construction of Ang Mo Kio interchange station and twin bored tunnels with a total length of 1.2km connecting the future Teck Ghee and Ang Mo Kio interchange stations.
