The Swiss chemicals company, Sika, and German shotcreting company, Putzmeister, have formed a ‘strategic alliance’ in the tunnelling and mining sector.
Under the agreement, Putzmeister will produce the shotcrete systems, while Sika serves as the exclusive sales agent.
Sika supplies a product line that includes concrete admixtures, speciality mortars, sealants, adhesives, and reinforcing materials. The company operates in 64 countries, generating annual sales of approximately US$1.5bn.
Putzmeister produces machines for the tunnelling and mining sectors. Sales for 2002 amounted to approximately US$500M.
