All 12 workers trapped in a tunnel collapse in Guangdong Province, southern China, were rescued after being trapped underground for over 24 hours.
The incident occurred at 05:30hrs on 26 October in a tunnel under construction for the Jiaoling section of the trans-regional expressway from northern China’s Tianjin municipality to Shantou in Guangdong.
Reports said one of the trapped workers climbed out of the collapse area at 15:10hrs on 27 October. The remaining 11 were rescued soon afterwards. All twelve are said to be in good condition.
