The CHF100m (£87m) contract, based on a partnership model, includes construction of a rail tunnel, a parallel service and emergency tunnel, and the new Haga underground station.
“We are delighted to contribute to this significant improvement of the transport infrastructure in western Sweden. Implenia will use its many years of extensive experience to implement the project and build this important new transport infrastructure in a logistically challenging, very tight inner-city space,” said Christian Späth, head division civil engineering at Implenia.

Västlänken, or the West Link, is an 8km-long double track railway, including a 6km rail tunnel, under the city of Gothenburg. It will connect commuter rail services to existing routes and include three new underground stations at Gothenburg Central Station, Haga and Korsvägen.
Drill and blast will be used for the 4km of tunnel that pass through rock; the remaining 2km will be built using cut and cover.
The project is divided into five packages – Olskroken, Centralen, Kvarnberget, Haga and Korsvägen – based on a geographical division of the route. In addition, there will be an overall contract for the rail, electronics, signalling system and telecommunications.
Last week Veidekke announced it had won a SKr430m (£31.78m) contract for the West Link project. Its works cover approximately 500m between Rosenlundsplatsen and the Harbour Canal and consist of a double-track tunnel and two service tunnels in rock.
