The breakthroughs on Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s Phase IV in early June mark the completion of Robbins’ tunnelling scope under the DC‑07 package.

The two 6.65m-diameter earth pressure balance TBMs completed excavation from Airforce Station to Tughlakabad Railway Colony Station via Maa Anandmayee Marg Station.

The twin TBM drives totalled 2,469 rings, spanning a combined 3.456km tunnel. Drive 1 between Airforce Station and Maa Anandmayee Marg was 2.65km long, while Drive 2 was 791m between Maa Anandmayee Marg and Tughlakabad Railway Colony.

The drives passed beneath densely populated urban areas with difficult logistics and challenging mixed-ground geology consisting of rock with gravel, sand, silt and clay – all with minimal surface impact.

“From launch to breakthrough, our focus was on delivering precision tunnelling with minimal surface disruption and maximum efficiency. Despite complex logistics and mixed ground conditions, both drives were completed on schedule with excellent performance,” said Gaurav Singh Bisht, field service manager, Robbins India.

With the tunnelling phase for DC-07 completed, Robbins will continue to assist Afcons Infrastructure Ltd during TBM dismantling and removal from the tunnels.
