Channel Tunnel Rail Link’s (CTRL) Contract 220, between Stratford and King’s Cross in London, was linked directly to the Channel Tunnel for the first time in June when it was used as one of the locations for a documentary on its construction.
Called “The Channel Tunnel Story”, the programme was made as part of a series on mega structures for National Geographic and the UK’s Channel Five. The first part can be seen by UK viewers on Channel Five on 30 August at 8pm.
Meanwhile, the tunnel teams on contract 240 were busy on the last act of their performance. Works for the track beds and walkways got underway as part of the final stage prior to track laying, signalling and electrification.
The Moxy Paver lays the trackbed in the invert, followed by the walkway on one side and then the opposite walkway in three passes. Similar work has also begun on contract 250 in Dagenham.
