The machine has been named Rita, after Rita Ayoub, a design engineer on the project at Eiffage Génie Civil.
The TBM will soon begin excavating the 5.2km section from Normandie Niémen in Bobigny to Marcel Dassault in Bondy.
In total, four TBMs will be deployed on the Line 15 East-1 project.
Eiffage Group, in consortium with architectural firms, was awarded the design and build contract for the Line 15 section between Bobigny and Champigny-sur-Marne in December 2023.
Eiffage Génie Civil, the project lead, is responsible for excavating 17km of tunnels, constructing six new stations, 15 service structures, and two tunnel portal structures, as well as the Rosny operations centre.
Eiffage Construction is responsible for the infrastructure and ancillary works, while Eiffage Énergie Systèmes is responsible for the electrical installations, high- and low-voltage systems, and electromechanical equipment.
Eiffage Rail will lay the tracks.
