TBM Tao Bao completed its last breakthrough at Station S12, marking the end of mechanised tunnelling works.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction and Ghella deployed the 6.6m-diameter Herrenknecht EPB TBM to excavate a 4km drive on the Nhon–Hanoi station line.
The two TBMs that excavated the twin-bore tunnels were launched in August 2024. TBM Than Toc completed[https://www.tunnelsandtunnelling.com/news/excavation-completed-on-hanoi-metro-tunnel/] its drive in December last year.
The Pilot Light Metro Line 3 is Hanoi’s first underground metro line. The 12.5km-long line connects Nhon – located in the Tay Tuu neighbourhood of Nam Tu Liem district, in western Hanoi –to Hanoi Station. It consists of 8.5km of elevated tracks, 4km of underground tunnels and the construction of four underground stations: Kim Ma Station, Cat Linh Station, Van Mieu Station, and Hanoi Station.
