The packages are part of the Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link connecting the island of Fehmarn with the German mainland.

As part of the alliance project, project partners DB InfraGO AG and DEGES are jointly responsible for the design and build phases.

STRABAG and ZÜBLIN together with Johann Bunte and Eiffage Infra-Bau will deliver Package 2, covering earthworks, civil engineering and superstructure works. ZÜBLIN, together with Porr and Implenia, has also been awarded the ground engineering works for Package 6. Contract Package 7 will be delivered by ZÜBLIN with the support of other STRABAG units. This package includes construction of the cut-and-cover tunnel sections and several trough structures.

Jörg Rösler, the STRABAG SE Member of the Management Board responsible for the North + West segment, said the significance of the Fehmarn Sound Crossing extended far beyond the region itself.

“This project is an important step in the continuous development of Europe’s infrastructure and a clear commitment to modern mobility. With this contract, we are underscoring our leading role in the German infrastructure market. With around 40,000 employees in Germany, we have a strong local presence and are ideally positioned to play a leading role in shaping the country’s infrastructure modernisation drive,” he said.
