The proposed Thamesmead Extension Programme (TEX) comprises a 3km extension from Gallions Reach to Thamesmead via Beckton Riverside, including a twin-bore 1.5km tunnel under the River Thames.

It would also include new stations at Beckton Riverside and Thamesmead.

The preliminary market engagement will include a supplier industry day on December 2 and a market sounding questionnaire.

The engagement deadline is January 31, 2026. The estimated contract dates are March 1, 2027 to December 31, 2033.

Currently it is anticipated that the initial pre-procurement strategy will be a multi-stage process with an early contractor involvement. To prepare the TEX Programme procurement strategy, TfL is seeking contributions from suppliers with experience in delivering works of a similar magnitude to assist in developing a suitable delivery model for the works. TfL says advice and suggestions on general buildability of the scheme, concept design, phasing, packaging and sequencing of works and contractual arrangements for the work packages will be invaluable.

TfL has embarked on implementing a new delivery model. This will drive improvements, capture construction efficiencies, reduce costs, seek innovative techniques to reduce carbon and improve whole life costs.

Interested parties must register on TfL’s e-Tendering portal SAP Ariba.
