Construction of the project’s main works package – the underground power plant – officially began on January 22.
In preparation, contractors completed the construction of access roads, excavation of open foundation pits for major works, and excavation and support for five adits.
Excavation and structural support for the electrical cable tunnel and ventilation tunnel were fully completed in January 2025. Last year earthworks for the planned 500kV distribution substation achieved a volume of 145,000m3, representing 144% of the annual target and approximately 90% of total volume.
The 1,200MW power plant in Khanh Hoa Province is due to open in phases. The first of the four units will begin generating power in December 2029, and the final unit in December 2030.
