Since graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1984, Grandori has worked in TBM tunnelling as tunnel contractor and TBM manufacturer with SELI, accruing experience in more than 120 TBM projects and over 1,200km of tunnels around the world.

He has acted as consultant for TBM design and operation for several public clients and general contractors, and co-operated with all major TBM manufacturers – Robbins, Lovat, Wirth, Mitsubishi, Kawasaki, NFM, Boretec, Terratec, NFM, Herrenknecht, CREG, CRCHI – in developing new technologies and TBM types.

Since 2020 Grandori has been director of Webuild’s plant and equipment and TBM department where he is responsible for the development and follow-up of over 60 TBMs operating worldwide. In Italy, he is supporting Webuild in the construction of more than 300km of tunnels excavated using mechanised machines, with 40 TBMs working simultaneously.

WTC2026 will be held in Montreal from May 15-21.

Grandori will deliver his lecture – TBMs at the forefront: challenges, innovations, and logistics in large-scale underground construction. First results from a large number of machines driving the future of tunnelling in complex geotechnical contexts – on May 18.
