The delivered area includes the northern part of the Sandbukta open-cut zone, the tunnel portal, and the northern stretch of the Moss Tunnel.

MossIA, comprising Acciona and Implenia, has also completed the installation of drainage infrastructure, cable ducts, two technical buildings and landscaping on the surface, as well as preparations for the northern section of the track area, including foundations for track switches and light masts.

The joint venture is responsible for the design and construction of 9km of the 10km project. The drill and blast construction has included scaling, shotcrete application, waterproofing, and cast in situ concrete.

The new double-track railway runs through the municipality of Moss and involves the construction of two main tunnels: the 2.7km-long Moss Tunnel in the north and the 2.3km-long Carlberg Tunnel in the south. Two escape tunnels are also being constructed.

The tunnel is part of the Sandbukta–Moss–Såstad railway which aims to increase capacity and reduce travel time on the Østfold line. Bane NOR’s Intercity programme is designed to promote connections between Norway’s main cities and ease traffic congestion in Oslo’s catchment area.
