TBM Than Toc (Speedy God), operated by Ghella, broke through at Station S12 (Hanoi Station) after completing a 4km drive and installing 1,720 segments.
The Herrenknecht TBM has a 6.6m diameter, is more than 100m long and weighs around 850 tonnes.
Line 3 is now more than 72% complete.
A second TBM – Tao Bao – is currently advancing toward Station S11.
The Pilot Light Metro Line 3 is Hanoi’s first underground metro line. The 12.5km-long line connects Nhon – located in the Tay Tuu neighborhood of Nam Tu Liem district, in western Hanoi –to Hanoi Station. It consists of 8.5km of elevated tracks, 4km of underground tunnels and the construction of four underground stations: Kim Ma Station, Cat Linh Station, Van Mieu Station, and Hanoi Station.
