Eiffage Génie Civil and NGE-BTP have achieved another breakthrough on Toulouse Metro’s Line C project.
TBM Lise Enjalbert has arrived at the future Blagnac station, marking the machine’s second breakthrough.
The progress follows the first breakthrough after a 950m drive between Ponts Jumeaux and Sept Deniers Stade Toulousain Station.
More than 2km of the planned 4.136km tunnel have been excavated since work began at Ponts Jumeaux.
The consortium is now preparing for the final drive to Puits Laporte, where the TBM will be retrieved.
The Toulouse Metro Line C project involves building a new 27km metro line in the Toulouse metropolitan area, with 21 stops, including five interconnections with railway stations.
The Eiffage-led consortium was awarded Lots 1 and 2 civil engineering contracts by Tisséo Ingénierie.
Lot 1, which covers Linc C from the Colomiers auxiliary structure, located 100m from Colomiers Gare station, to the Laporte auxiliary structure, includes the design and construction of a 3.85km tunnel, three stations and four ancillary structures between stations. It also includes the construction of three shafts connecting the shafts to the tunnel.
Lot 2 covers the section from the Laporte auxiliary structure to Raynal station. The work includes the design and construction of an 8.416km tunnel, six stations, five auxiliary structures at intersections and a connecting tunnel to the maintenance site. It also includes the construction of nine shafts connecting the shafts to the tunnel.
Eiffage and NGE-BTP are operating three TBMs on the project. In April, TBM Berthe de Puybusque arrived at Ponts Jumeaux to complete its first drive, and in May TBM Jeanne Marvig made its second breakthrough at the future Fontaine Lumineuse station.
